Cozumel

Cozumel

Cozumel is a fairly large island with a length of 48 km or approximately 30 miles, and it is rated as not only one of the safest islands in Mexico but perhaps the world as well. If you are considering visiting Cozumel for a day or a week, I strongly suggest you do your research prior to getting here. With so much to do and so little time, a bucket list isn’t a suggestion but a requirement for this top tourist spot. Cozumel is a small community of about 100,000 people who reside primarily in San Miguel and most of the rest of the island is home to endemic animals. The history of Cozumel dates back to the 1500’s and today is most popular for fishing, scuba diving and snorkeling.
The island has a considerable amount of cruise ship traffic, and handles the traffic of tourist very well when considering there are so many places to visit and activities to participate in. When putting together your list of to do’s, make sure to book in advance when possible and prioritize your most important events first. Tours, well known eateries, shopping and sightseeing on the island can be enjoyed at almost any time with no booking issues. This isn’t to say that you shouldn’t make your reservations in advance when possible, but you should place emphasis on booking the things like snorkeling, scuba and fishing first since these special charters book out in advance. In the event one of these is booked, you can usually move a day or two before or after to claim your reservation. Directly following, you should book your tours like private jeep charters to fill in any larger gaps within your schedule.
